JAMB Suspends Use Of NIN Till 2021

NO MORE NIN FOR UTME 2020 REGISTRATION- JAMB

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has suspended the mandatory use of the National Identity Number, NIN, for the 2020 UTME registration. This is for both the UTME and Direct Entry candidates.
However, it was made known by the JAMB registrar that the suspension doesn't affect their permanent and adhoc staff that will participate in this year exercise, saying they are all required to submit their NIN for verification.
The JAMB boss, prof Oloyede made this known in a press conference on Friday in Abuja at the board's headquarter.

According to Oloyede, the board came to this position due to some technical issues and stakeholders concerns.
He added, it was no longer realistic and attainable for all prospective candidates to get their NIN before the closing date (17th February, 2020) and that the board would not like to inflict more pain on candidates.

The JAMB registrar also said that the decision to make NIN compulsory for UTME was based on law, directive and more importantly on the fact that it was the right way to go and that NIN would assist in eliminating fraud in identity management especially double registration.
UTME applicants are hereby adviced to take notice of this information.
