NUC CREATES 7 DEPARTMENTS OUT FROM MASS COMMUNICATION


MASS COMMUNICATION SPLIT INTO 7 COURSES BY NUC


 It was learnt that the mass communication degree in Nigeria had been currently unbundled into seven departments by the National Universities Commission, NUC.
  It was learnt from the NUC’s executive secretary Prof Abubakar Rasheed, that the new development will take effect from 2020 university admission year.
 The new departments include;
Ø  Journalism and media studies
Ø  Public relations studies
Ø  Advertising
Ø  Broadcasting
Ø  Film and multimedia studies
Ø  Development communication studies
Ø  Information and media studies
This he said would be run in a school/college of communication and media studies.
The director of Corporate Affairs of the commission, Ibrahim Yankassai was found to have said that the universities are free to commence any of the new programs after securing NUC approval.
  He also warned that the mass communication degree has not been abolished, but unbundled into seven degree courses to be domiciled under the school/college of Communication and Media Studies.
