UPDATED JAMB
HEADLINES:
Prospective candidates for the 2020 UTME examination have been directed
by the Joint admissions and matriculation board to obtain the National Identification Number (NIN) ahead of the JAMB registration. JAMB will no longer be responsible
for the capturing of biometrics.
The boards spokesperson, who spoke on Tuesday 24th September to news agency of Nigeria
in Lagos, said that the call was necessary now that the registration for the 2020 UTME is about to begin.
It was gotten from the JAMB media head, that the board will use the NIN
generated after successful registration with NIMC for the candidates jamb
registration.
Dr Benjamin also said that candidates who obtained the NIN before reaching
the age of 16, are required to update their NIN registration status before
registering for the UTME.
On the issue of candidates who might have lost or misplaced their NIN,
they are to retrieve theirs by going to NIMC office or its licensed agents or
by dialing the code *346# on the SIM card number used in registering for the NIN.
The board said the move is to help check
examination malpractice. According to Dr Fabian Benjamin, the board has made an
adequate arrangement with the NIMC for prospective candidates to be registered
at the examination centers or with its licensed agents.
This development came alongside after the federal ministry of education
said that they have developed instruments to detect and monitor crimes related to examination malpractice in both advanced and ordinary levels.

represented by the permanent assistant director exams ethics and campus safety,
Kolli Salihu on Tuesday 24th September said that the instruments had
been tested in NECO and JAMB UTME. This was disclosed at the 23rd
