Dr Fabian Benjamin,JAMB's Head, Media and Information today told News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that the board hopes to utilize 80
to 90% of the available spaces for this year’s admissions. Saying that the board’s
projection for this, 2019 admissions was to ensure that candidates utilize more
available space unlike in 2018 where about 40 percent of space was unutilized. The
board spokesperson said that over 100,000 candidates on merit haven been
offered placements so far in the universities for 2019/2020 academic session.
He also reiterated, that the board will
continue to adhere to the admission deadline earlier agreed on. That is, 1st
choice admissions would be between 21st August and 16th November
for public institutions and 21st August 2019 to 15th February
2020 for private institutions.
The 2nd choice admission process
for universities will be conducted from 17th November to 17th
December 2019.
Meanwhile, the board also through her
spokesman, Dr Benjamin, had warned prospective applicants of jamb for the
upcoming year that the board have no connection or association with a rogue
website urging prospective candidates for subscription ahead of 2020 UTME
exams.
The said website is discovered to be urging
candidates for their names and telephone numbers as well as subscription fees
in order to get past questions and literature novel for the exam.
“JAMB operates with set standards and is not
ready to compromise such standards, we have an authentic website for all
official information Do not be deceived” said Dr Benjamin Fabian.
