JAMB BIOMETRIC VERIFICATION
Prof Is-haq
Oloyede, The registrar of the Joint Admissions And Matriculation Board(JAMB)
has confirmed that the board have begun the biometric verification of
candidates for the year 2019.
He said the exercise embarked upon by the
board, was responsible for the delay currently witnessed in the release of the
2019 UTME results which was started on April 11th and concluded on
18th April.
It was learnt from Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the
board’s boss that the process had been carried out for candidates in 31 states
and presently working on the remaining 6 states which were not specified by
him.
He made known that the board is
cross-checking everything pertaining to the conduct of the just concluded exam
including biometrics. He went further to explain what it takes to carry out
such tasks
“ If you are very close to identity Card
Management Commission (NIMC), ask them what it takes to analyse fingerprints in
terms of periods. We are combining 1.8 million ten fingers with one another, to
be sure we identify people who combine fingers and so on. That is where we are
now”, said the JAMB boss.
When asked what date the board will release
the result of the UTME, the registrar said, “ I don’t know but it will be very soon, soon
when we complete what we are doing”.
Prof Is-haq Oloyede, however, denied reports
that the board may cancel half of the results of states engaged in malpractice
while also reconfirming that nothing was wrong with the board’s server, just
that the board is cleaning up the rot in the educational system. He also stated
that the board will probe the alleged involvement of some of her staff who
connived with CBT operators to carry out infractions.
